Been wanting to ride the trains for a long time - maybe next year I can make the effort for a fun getaway trip! Writing on the train sounds like a fun pastime too - altho I have so much reading to catch up on as well.
The trains are the best travel experience! I highly recommend. A great start is capitol corridor up to sacramento or truckee but the best I've experienced so far is riding to Portland / Seattle. That's a wonderful ride and my recommendation would be to train up and fly back. best of both worlds!
